So tell me, how do you feel...?

I think it's great. What people fail to realize is that a religion's definition of marriage is irrelevant outside of that religion. It is government that recognizes marriage for tax purposes. That is why you have to follow government procedures in order to file as a married couple. Since there exists an unlimited spousal gift exemption, anyone in favor of equal taxation must either support gay marriage, demand that the tax code to include civil unions wherever the word married is mentioned, or demand the spousal exemption to be removed. Otherwise, they are hypocrites and liars. By the way, if marriage was only a religious institution, neither agnostics or atheists would be allowed to marry, so that is an invalid argument on its merits. I know it was a difficult decision for those Republicans that voted for it, and they may suffer in the next election as a result. It's nice to see that some politicians can make a decision based on equality and not on solely their donors' wishes.
